How Digital Marketing Will Be Relevant to My Future Career

Why Digital Marketing?

Digital marketing will be deeply relevant to my future career because it gives me the skills, confidence, and adaptability I need in an industry that is constantly evolving.

As someone rebuilding a career in a new country while balancing school, work, and family, I rely on digital tools every day. Not just to stay organized, but to communicate, create, and make strategic decisions. It’s a field that constantly pushes me to keep learning. Which is exactly why it aligns so well with the kind of professional I want to become. The more I dive into it, the more I realize that digital marketing is a gateway to opportunity, stability, and long-term growth in a world that is becoming increasingly digital.

The Impostor Syndrome

Recently, I watched a video that discussed both the rewarding and challenging sides of a digital marketing career. One part that stayed with me was the speaker’s honesty about impostor syndrome. Hearing about impostor syndrome made me feel seen; I’ve struggled with it too while learning new tools and platforms. Sometimes, it feels like no matter how much I study or practice, something new comes out. A new algorithm, a new social platform, or a new AI tool that I suddenly need to understand. The video reminded me that this feeling is normal, and many digital marketers, even those with 10 or 11 years of experience, still feel the same pressure to keep up.

Growth is Constant

The speaker also talked about how quickly the industry changes, making older tools or knowledge obsolete within just a few years. That resonated deeply with me. As a student who is still building her foundation, it can be intimidating to know that the learning never stops. But strangely, it also motivates me. It tells me that digital marketing is a field where growth is constant, and where people who stay curious, flexible, and willing to adapt will always have a place.

Being Hands-On

Another point from the video that made me reflect on my future career path was the reality of having to understand both strategy and the hands-on technical side. Even when someone becomes a director or manager, they still need to know what’s happening on the ground. How Meta Advantage+ campaigns work, what causes a drop in impression share, or why certain keywords suddenly become expensive. This reinforced something I already feel strongly about. I want to build a career where I understand not only the big picture but also the real, day-to-day work behind successful marketing.

Balancing Act

Balancing digital marketing with family responsibilities also gives me a unique perspective. I’m learning how to manage deadlines, adapt to new tools quickly, and stay organized, all skills that employers value deeply. Moreover, as an international student in Canada, digital marketing gives me a chance to integrate my previous experience with new knowledge, allowing me to grow in a competitive market.

In the end, the challenges of digital marketing don’t scare me, they help me grow. This field teaches resilience, creativity, problem-solving, and continuous learning.

Every new skill I develop brings me closer to the career I’m working hard to build for myself and my family. And that makes the entire journey worth it.
